Worried About Someone?

Worried About Someone? The brochures are designed to give parents and carers information about ways they can help someone that might be going through a rough time.

The Bellarine Youth Development Network is pleased to release the Worried About Someone? brochures.  The brochures are designed to give parents and carers information about ways they can help someone that might be going through a rough time.

The members of the Bellarine Youth Development Network want to provide useful information to the parents and carers in our local community.

Mel Taylor, the School Focused Youth Service Coordinator with BATForce said “Young people tell us that their family is the most important source of support and advice.  Young people will turn to their friends and family members to talk about what they’re going through.”

“Sometimes we just get stuck, we don’t know what to say or do.  This brochure is a guide to get the conversation started and to offer some suggestions about where to seek professional help.”  Mel said.

In the 2011 National Survey of Young Australian’s young people identified a number of issues that they are concerned about.  Most commonly young people identified that they are concerned about coping with stress, worried about body image, and are experiencing problems with school or study.  A greater number of young people are also experiencing bullying.

These brochures will be distributed to families on the Bellarine Peninsula through local secondary schools. The brochures will also be available at Bellarine Community Health and headspace centres.

If you would like a copy of the brochure please call Mel Taylor on 0438 558130.
